Beloved TV Host Dies Unexpectedly At Age 42

In May 2022, a beloved Australian TV host died unexpectedly. Erin Jayne Plummer was only 42 years old. She left behind her husband and three daughters.

One friend described her as “truly the most beautiful soul I had ever met.” Another friend told the Daily Mail, “No words can describe how special she was and the love she had for her three girls. She absolutely adored her girls.”

With those thoughts and memories in mind, it’s all the more surprising that her cause of death was suicide.

Friends explained that she did struggle with her mental health, but they didn’t think she was in any way suicidal. One friend commented, “All of us wish we could have done more to help carry the weight of her pain. But she was happy and well the last time we saw her. Even her last Instagram post showed she was excited to be back at work.”

According to friends, the Covid-19 pandemic took a toll on her mental health, and in the weeks leading up to her death she wasn’t her “bouncy, energetic self.”

Even though Erin’s death was determined to be a suicide, her friends still want her death to be investigated. One friend commented, “There is not one person who thinks she would have left her beautiful girls this way.”

Erin first found the spotlight at a young age when she was cast in a tourism campaign that aired on NBC. Since then, she has been better known for hosting and making appearances on a number of Australian TV shows including Studio 10, TVSN, and Mornings with Kerri-Anne.

Peter Gard, Erin’s father, shared a tribute to his daughter calling her three daughters, his granddaughters, “little mini versions of her.”

Before her TV career, Erin was an award winning synchronised swimmer. She won 11 national titles and represented Australia in 3 world championships. Now, one of her daughters is following in her footsteps.
