Loretta Lynn’s Family Is “Grateful” For “Love” As They Grieve The D3ath Of Singer’s First Grandchild

Loretta Lynn’s family is mourning the loss of her first grandchild, Lynn Massey, who passed away on August 23rd after “a long and difficult health battle,” according to a post on the late singer’s official Instagram page. The family expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received, writing, “Our family is so grateful for the prayers and love continually shown to us.”

Lynn was the daughter of Loretta’s first child, Betty Sue, who named her after her famous mother. Betty Sue passed away in 2013 at the age of 64 due to complications from emphysema. Before her death, she made a mark in the music industry as a songwriter, penning some of Loretta Lynn’s most memorable songs.

Friends and fans took to Instagram to remember Lynn Massey, with one commenting, “Betty Sue was a Very Sweet Young Lady,” and singer Jewel adding, “Sending so much love….”

Loretta Lynn, who passed away on October 4, 2022, at the age of 90, had welcomed her first grandchild at just 34 years old.

The family has not disclosed the cause of Lynn’s death.
